Credibility is the Foundation for Online Business
In today’s online world, the internet is swamped with a tangle of get-rich-quick schemes, official-looking affiliate programs, and guaranteed home business “starter kits”. Even for the cautious buyer, it can be a daunting and unthankful task to sort through all the offers and find a real opportunity. Everywhere you turn there are alluring pictures of fantasy islands and the slick promise of an unbelievable salary, if you follow through with the proven formula. If you’re like me, you decided that you could never forgive yourself if you missed out on an opportunity like that and you simply took your pick of one of the thousands of beach-infested sites. You even googled “best home business online” to be a responsible shopper. Yes, there was that slight whisper of doubt that the entry price was too low, that the promises on the sales page made everything seem too simple. But maybe it was late at night, your daytime inhibitions were sleepy, and somehow away from the glare of the sun the offer looked reasonable. There were even photographs of the fabulous checks this online guru was receiving regularly. So you bit the bullet, suffocated that little voice, and entered your credit card number.
Once inside things imperceptibly began to slow down. The site was still happy and chipper, talking vaguely about all your new marketing tools and welcoming you onboard to your new life. You had beat the crowd of unbelievers. In fact, the talking was going so smoothly that it took a good while to figure out that one of the first steps to a better income was to buy the monthly advertising tool which was needed to get the big ball rolling. Well, you’ve already committed yourself. To toss in the hat this soon would be a painful anticlimax. So you buy the tool. After several purchases like this (all the while the site is getting more and more frantic in its praise of your cleverness) you begin to feel like you’re slipping into a money lobster trap. It also becomes depressingly clear that there are probably thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of people using the same types of services to try and spew their advertising all over the internet. Not only that, but the site is recommending a whole slew of advertising methods with equal fervor, each of which costs additional money. How do you tell which methods will actually bring a return for your money? You probably never meant to get in this deep in the first place. Simple curiosity is starting to kill your wallet. That little whisper of doubt now sounds like the booming, patronizing voice of your uncle telling you that, yes, it’s embarrassing, but don’t get too down on yourself. Everyone’s been had at some point in their life.
Don’t get me wrong, the online business market is thriving. There are real people making real money out there (yeah, you know, you payed some of them). Some of them make their money with a lot of quick promises that are designed to overwhelm the doubts of visitors. I’ve become so weary of those mammoth sites that just keep listing testimonials and benefits until you wonder where the actual purchase link is. Others actually have put a lot of work into researching various money-making systems and it’s in their best interest to help you make money. These are the guys who are in it for the long haul. These are the guys who can afford to give away free ebooks with solid content because they know that the ones who are doing the research will be the best business partners. And as more and more people consider online business as a legitimate opportunity, credibility is becoming more and more of an issue. Most sites try to create a quick credibility with pictures of suave, Kennedy look-a-likes testifying to the effectiveness of the product. This is an easy way to implant belief in people’s minds without having to do a lot of work.
When sorting through all the testimonials and bids for online credibility, look for the people offering free information. Read it and see if they have anything worth saying. The curse and blessing of the internet is the overwhelming mass of information it offers. Take the time to read and research how online business works before you throw money into the whirlpool. A key idea to remember is that all online business relies heavily on advertising – you can have a great product but if people don’t know about it, you’ll be at a stalemate. That’s why internet business became so popular in the first place. You can market to literally millions of people. So while researching different home business packages, also research the different advertising methods. Google phrases like “ezine advertising”, “google adwords”, and “pay per click advertising”. Join the Warrior Forum at www.warriorforum.com. This is a great resource for people trying to understand the enigma of online business. Thousands of experienced home business entrepeneurs talk about the effectiveness of the latest advertising, what affiliate programs are working for them, what tools are worth buying, etc. This is a great free support system that you should take advantage of if you want to take the online game seriously. Good luck.
