Catching Carp: the Tricks of the Trade

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 12:19 am

Carp fishing is a very rewarding activity as carp are really clever and wary of taking the bait. However, with some cunning, you can invite the fish and trick them into being caught. Here’s just some tips to help you when carp fishing:-

  • Bring fishmeal boilies in the finer weather (summer and autumn), and try your luck with half-half mixes or even birdfood bait in the winter and spring seasons
  • Experiment by mixing spicy chillies to some particle baits. The carp fish appear to enjoy that hot “kick” from those chillies. As a rough guide, add 2 tablespoons to 5 litres particles.
  • Use different pellet sizes or particles in the spod mix. This really “throws” the carp (confuses them), and gives you the choice to use various sizes of bait.
  • Include plenty of vitamin C to the bait. Stir up your method with fruit juice like orange juice rather than lake water. Also experiment with soaking fresh boilies in fruit juice so as to to give that distinct relish.
  • If you’re nervous about overfeeding, then try breadcrumb groundbait with just the attractants included, but with particle baits NOT included. This draws in the carp without feeding them too much.
  • Lastly, make sure you have the right fishing gear with you. Research what you should bring online. You can find all kinds of things online, such as carp bite alarms – and make sure you enjoy yourself!
