The French Resort of Chamonix — Paradise for Skiing

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 1:11 am

The very best catered chalets on any continent are to be found in the wonderful resort town Chamonix, a wonderful setting for a ski holiday built around relaxation, rest and the joy to be had on the piste. Known not merely for its charm, but for its astonishing history, Chamonix had the honor of hosting the first ever Winter Olympics of 1924 being chosen for its fabulous skiing and hiking trails, ideal for even the greatest skiers and hikers worldwide.

But first, some general introduction seems recommended. The commune of sixteen hamlets and villages known as “Chamonix” is found on the northwest side of the Alps. The Aiguilles Rouges — not to mention the legendary Mont Blanc — is close enough for Chamonix to quickly become obvious as a perfect base camp when you take a skiing weekend. It is well known and much used with skiers and mountaineers. Mont Blanc has been named the the third most visited natural site on the planet, and although not every visitor is a ski enthusiast, there’s no one who enjoys their visit more than the skier. Good areas for any form of winter sports are in simple reach of the resort, providing for the extreme sportsman a wide variety of options — more than many resorts can deliver — and all Olympic quality. For less energetic tourists hiking trails are nearly omnipresent, providing wonderful prospects and reached easily by cable car. Expertise is not mandatory for several of the runs at the resort, which looks to cater to many levels of skill.

You’ll find no choice smarter for an active family holiday than a luxury ski chalet. Such chalets will seem like a home away from home in the Alps and leave you with no need to forgo luxury while on the slopes. There is no doubt that this is your family’s best choice for a skiing holiday. These homes away from home are fully outfitted and range from cosy for two to housing for groups, sporting sleeping rooms, kitchens and roaring fireplaces. Snow expeditions can make for an incredibly romantic setting or an enjoyable time for friends and family, and you won’t find a better place to start from. Winter is not the only season in which you can enjoy your vacation in Chamonix. In the summer, paragliding, rock climbing, and hiking are all available. Should you be a tourist rather than a ski enthusiast, you’ll find there’s still lots to occupy your time in the alps with the views, historic sites, and the search for bargains, all of it among the friendly population. Employing transfer from Geneva airport this is a simple flight to make and following your arrival it’ll be completely easy to put together the right combination of accomodation and sports, which will make having a really fantastic vacation quite effortless.
