A Brief Overview of Ben Barnes’ Career

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 6:27 pm

Fifty years ago, former Lt. Gov of Texas Ben Barnes was measured to be the golden boy in Texas politics. Passionate, determined, and bold, he engaged in a thriving campaign when he was in his early 20s. The campaign was successful; it earned him a seat in the Texas legislature. His personality and passion for service gave the politician the respect of senior Texas politicians. President Lyndon B. Johnson even called him as “the next American President.”

In 1965, Ben Barnes climbed the political ladder to become Texas House Speaker, a confirmation of the trust he earned among his experienced co-legislators. An abundant legislator, he wrote bills that favored the deprived sectors of the Texas community. He launched a minimum wage for farmers, supported the cause of labor by increasing wages, tripled spending for higher education, and amplified teachers’ salaries. After almost a decade as legislator, the Texan community selected Barnes the official to take up the seat of Lieutenant Governor in 1969.

From the best and worst of every situation, former Lt. Gov of Texas Ben Barnes remained a bona fide statesman. Now managing his consultancy firm the Ben Barnes Group, he remains a devoted volunteer to a number of nonprofit causes and a noticeable and dynamic supporter of public policy reform.
